Dabney Back In Drivers Seat

Wayne Dabney Jr. Returns as Head Coach of the Garden State Herd, Leads Program Into Post Grad Era.

The Garden State Herd is proud to announce the return of Wayne Dabney Jr. as Head Coach as the program makes its transition to the post-graduate level.

Coach Dabney, who led the Herd through its inaugural 2021 season, has been the driving force behind the program’s rapid development.

Under his leadership, the Herd progressed from a 4–4 debut to an 8–2 season and a quarterfinal playoff berth in just three years competing at the developmental level.

A veteran of the game with 19 years of coaching experience across youth, high school, and developmental football, Dabney has compiled an 86–55 career record, with 10 playoff appearances, 5 playoff wins, and 2 conference finals under his belt.

He is known for building disciplined, high-character programs that prepare young men for success both on and off the field.

“Your staff is your strength. They make my job the easiest it could be,” said Dabney." The only way we get anywhere is by working together, and we will do a great job of that. Everyone who coaches here will work their a--es off to make this machine work. Selfless, and functioning as one. Everybody can't party in the kennel that's reserved for Dawgs. I look forward to the challenge.”

Now, as the Garden State Herd prepares for its debut season as a post-graduate football program, Coach Dabney’s leadership, culture, and commitment to Kaizen meaning small ongoing positive changes can reap major improvements, will remain the foundation of the team’s identity.
